On-Call Support Worker

Location: HaywardBefriending Staffordshire & West Midlands

Hours: On-Call (No set hours)

Salary: £7.20 per hour, Group outings – £9.00 per hour. Travel time of up to 30 minutes is paid at minimum wage. All miles when working with a client can be claimed at £0.30p per mile.

Holidays: Holiday entitlement accrued by every 10 hours worked. 1hour and 10minutes per 10 hours worked to be calculated and paid either each month or as and when holiday is taken.

Description: As a Befriending support worker you will be required to visit our service users at their home, assist with tasks in or out of the home, encouraging and stimulating independence. Key tasks include:

  • Befriending/Companionship/reliability
  • Assisting or carry out meal preparation
  • Assisting or carry out house work
  • Assisting or carry out shopping
  • Assisting or carry out basic Gardening
  • Night sitting
  • Driving with or on behalf of Service User
  • Appointment arranging/attending
  • Accompanied Holidays/Outings

Salary: £7.80 per hour, Group outings – £9.00 per hour. Travel time of up to 30 minutes is paid at minimum wage. All miles when working with a client can be claimed at £0.30p per mile.

Holidays: In accordance with ACAS guidelines.

Description: As a Befriending support worker you will be required to visit our service users at their home, assist with tasks in or out of the home, encouraging and stimulating independence. Key tasks include:

  • Assisting or carry out meal preparation
  • Assisting or carry out house work
  • Assisting or carry out shopping
  • Assisting or carry out basic Gardening
  • Night sitting
  • Driving with or on behalf of Service User
  • Appointment arranging/attending
  • Accompanied Holidays/Outings

Requirements: 

  • A current driving licence which is valid for use in the UK
  • Motor insurance (business type)
  • Use of own vehicle
  • Ability to work independently within agreed guidelines and timescales
  • Ability to communicate effectively (in writing or orally), adapting to suit the needs of individuals
  • Understanding and Respecting Equal Opportunities
  • Willingness to work flexibly within a growing organisation
  • Basic Computer skills – to be able to give basic training

Desirable requirements:

  • Experience of being a Carer/Support Worker – Professional or Personal
  • Understanding the needs of Supported adults
  • Able to communicate effectively/presenting in group situations
