This is an initiative set by HaywardBefriending very much aimed at alleviating the signs and symptoms of loneliness and isolation in the community through a chance to try cricket and play regularly for local cricket clubs within an organised structure. True inclusion – something we’re very passionate about.
The event is being run in partnership with hosts Rugeley Cricket Club and Staffordshire Cricket.
INFORMATION – Please arrive for a 2pm registration – we would like your information to ensure we can contact you after the event to set up the T20 league around the county, putting you in touch with the right people from the club nearest you to form a team for the T20 league. You will also need you to let us know we have your consent to film and/or take photos of you to help promote the event following the launch day. All information will be on the registration form. So far we have teams from Rugeley, Cannock, Stafford, Codsall, Forton and Uttoxeter who want to play in the league, with others soon to be announced.
The launch day will be very much about participation. This is a taster day for adults with Learning and physical disabilities to be coached by qualified ECB coaches, play some small sided matches and socialise afterwards in the club house with the Club HB disco from 5pm.
PARKING – there will be stewards on hand to direct you to park at the ground and what to do on arrival in terms of where to register.
CLOTHING – please dress comfortably in clothing suitable for a summers day and rain showers! Trainers and tracksuits would be recommended.
EQUIPMENT – all bats, balls, stumps etc. will be kindly provided by Staffordshire Cricket and Rugeley Cricket Club.
FOOD AND DRINK – The club bar will be open all afternoon for refreshments and food will be available to purchase from a fast food trailer “The Jolly Fryer” (burgers, cheese burgers, hot dogs, chips etc.) from 2pm.
LEAGUE INFORMATION – The HaywardBefriending Big Smash T20 league format will commence at the start of July, to run each week at nominated clubs around the county on agreed days, culminating in a finals day on Sunday 19th August 2018 back at host club Rugeley.
